The Mexican/American War

Have you ever wondered what it was like to live in the 1800s? Or, have you ever wondered what it would be like to live through a war with hardly any electronics? Well, I have written a report on a war that played a significant role in our country.
The Mexican/American War was a war fought between Mexico and America, that not only involved a ton of land, but also each country’s pride was at stake.
In the year 1845 Texas officially became America’s 28th state, which infuriated the Mexicans. On May 23, 1846, Mexico declared war on the United States. With the war in full throttle, many men had to leave their family’s and friends to go fight in a  war where people were killing each other left and right. They knew that it was only a matter of time before they were one of the many men stacked high upon the battlefield.
Zachary Taylor was America’s greatest general during the war. The Battle of Buena, was the largest battle led by General Zachary Taylor and General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, lead the Mexicans.
Finlay after two years of conflicts, General Winfield Scott used his experience to make his way into Mexico City and take it. Tired of war, the Mexicans drew up a peace contract, stating that America could have all of their land that was in North America, in exchange for  President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, who was captured.
Thank you so much for reading. I would love to hear your opinion on the war, or what you thought of the essay. 🙂
